What is your business truth? Is it ‘I’ve got an amazing team. My customers love me. My product is the best on the market place.’ Now while that may be your truth, it’s all subjective isn’t it and others will have their own view of things.
There is only one truth in business. It is totally objective and no one can argue about it. I’m talking about the numbers! What are the numbers around your cash? The profitability, the turnover. What are the numbers around staff performance, sales, new sign ups? What are the numbers that drive your business forward? If you want to know the truth about all things business – look to the numbers because numbers never lie. So do you have numbers in every area of your business that you would like to know the truth about? Because if you don’t, you’ve’ just got an opinion and your opinion will be biased.
It’s a question I asked in a separate video- why do people hide from the truth? Well, in this instance people fear their numbers and find it overwhelming so they turn their back on them. But think about this, when you know your numbers you don’t have to worry because they will tell you the truth. They will let you know where you stand, how well you’re doing or indeed, how well your aren’t doing . When you have mastery over your numbers you can then spend some time working out how to make them better! Your numbers will keep you informed – if you have a nagging doubt about some area of your business, don’t go with your gut feel to sort out the problem, look to your numbers because they never, ever lie!
